Michael is lifelong lover of art. He has always been a maker, and has tried all kinds of mediums over the years. The first real spark of interest in learning about art happened for Michael in high school. His school had a robust art training program where he was fortunate enough to encounter many different types of art, from classic painting to metal work, sculpture, and even fabric arts.

Although Michael has played with a number of mediums in his lifetime, clay quickly became his favourite. The elements and experimentation involved in the process fascinate Michael, and he’s always coming up with new methods of honing his craft.

I have been crafting with my mama all my life. It’s something that we do together, attending workshops and craft shows. We have dabbled in many mediums over the years, many of which I have been able to apply to my current work in clay. I’ve been making all my life, it’s just who I am.

I began working in clay following a major shift in my life. After my son was born, I caught a virus which caused my body to go haywire. I developed overactive nerves resulting in chronic pain and brain fog. Because of this my life changed completely, but it’s also what lead me to pottery. I took a two day workshop at the Art School of Peterborough with a mom friend of mine, and I was hooked!
